Add Exercise to the Mix

Walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator will become a testament to your health. In the beginning, it may take awhile but eventually you will be able to proudly and easily take the stairs. A change as simple as this can make all the difference.

Losing weight without going to the gym is about using what you have available to you with a little creativity and ingenuity. Many people join gyms to lose weight and then they never go. There are a million and one obstacles a person may face when trying to incorporate a gym into their daily schedule.

However, when you focus on doing what you can with your current resources and schedule, you have a greater chance of success.

Begin by finding 10-15 minutes twice a day that you can set aside for weight loss. These two intervals of time will be used for easy to moderate exercise. You may want to do a 10 minute session first thing in the morning and then another session during mid-afternoon.

Or you may choose to have your sessions after lunch and after dinner. Whatever your decision, the key to sticking with the program is to keep the sessions short and simple. This increases your chances of success.

Once you have decided on when you will do your exercise, you need to decide what you will do. This depends partially on how in shape you are. If you are not in shape, you may want to begin by simply walking twice a day. If you are more fit, you may choose to do a sit-up routine in the mornings and alternate an arm or leg routine in the afternoon or evenings.

Simple exercises that can be done in 10-15 minutes include: sit-ups, leg lifts, arm lifts, arm curls, lunges, walking, walking up and down stairs, running, running up and down stairs, dancing, stretching, jumping jacks, hula hooping and jump rope.

These exercises may seem to simple to be effective, but they are the foundation of many physical fitness programs. Most of us have done these types of exercises since we were little.

You can make them more difficult by adding weight with arm or leg weights, water bottles full of sand, or backpacks stuffed with books. Working with your body’s natural movement is a great way to lose weight. It is simple and hard to make excuses to get out of!

Begin by standing straight with your legs shoulder width apart. Hold in your abs with your hands on your hips. Lean to the right and forward about 45 degrees. It’s easy to let your stomach muscles go when doing this exercise so be careful not to let it hang.

Hold for a second and move back to center. Then, lean to the left and forward about 45 degrees. Repeat to each side until you can perform this move 25 times.

Do It Anywhere

One of the great things about these moves is that you can do them virtually anywhere and at any time. They are a quick break at work, a commercial break during your favorite TV show, or a few minutes on the floor while playing with the kids! Do them often and see change in no time!!!
